Adore - Smashing Pumpkins

I like that girl on the cover.
I wouldn't call myself a Pumpkins fan - but I do like their music. Especially the singles rock my little room. I had bought the previous albums 'Siamese dream' and 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness', so I figured I could buy as well this next album.
The previous albums were sometimes a little too noisy for my aging ears but this album 'Adore' contains mostly... not noisy pop songs.
Reviews told me it was something very different for the Pumpkins what made me not so reluctant to buy it. Then I heard it during a killing-time visit to a record-store. I bought it some days later in another store where prizes were better suited to my taste and I have to confess, it became one of my most favorite 1998 albums.
It opens with a beautiful - almost no instruments - 'To Sheila', a song which definitely shows that less is more. Next are the two hit singles ('Ava Adore' and 'Perfect') and what follows are just more great songs like 'Daphne Descends', 'Shame' and 'Appels + oranjes' (my sweet favorite).
It's simply another masterpiece from a great band. You can play it time after time, and this even while enjoying it. .(Prinz William)
