I like this band, I adored their first album loaded with great songs so it was only natural to buy this next one. Besides, it got smoking reviews everywhere.
Now... I've played this album time after time, trying to get a grip on it but I still haven't found it. Friends will certainly disagree with me, but I think this is just a good album, nothing more and nothing less. 'Push it', 'Sleep together', 'Dumb'... I have the impression all the songs sound the same and Shirley sings every song more or less the same way. I'm still having trouble recognizing the smash-hit 'I think I'm paranoid', a number one song on Flanders alternative rock station for several weeks.
I feel like I bought one huge song, luckily a good song but it leaves not much of an exciting adventure to be found.
However I experienced once it's great driving music especially when you're sleepy. You can (you must!) hum along on all the songs and the fast melodies will keep you awake.
It took me a long time to find my own favorite and it's 'When I grow up'. I think. No, it's 'Special. Or maybe it's 'Temptation waits'. Heck man... it's fun trying to find a favorite song on this album.
Bottom line : I agree on what I heard from a French Garbage fan, this album lacks the great universe the first album had, but Version 2.0 is highly skilled made pop music. .(Prinz William)
