Head music - the London Suede
I have a soft spot for this band, they have beauty and style as trademarks.
And they make it rock like hell... well they did this on the previous album
'Coming up'.
This one requires a bit more of your imagination to rock like hell.
I bought the album basically because I already own all previous albums and because
I like 'She's in fashion' - one of the great singles that
raided my personal charts. It's a song you love at first sight (or hearing).
Though I should confess I wasn't thrilled with the other singles
'Electricity' and 'Can't get enough.
I judged the album to be the bands weakest production so far.
Then somehow I let it hang around in my stereo, listened to it a lot and hey...
some songs started sparkling like little diamonds.
Surprise was 'Can't get enough', a song I didn't like that much
in the beginning. But listening to that driving and knocking beat - it's a great song to dance
on, letting everything go and shaking your head like a madman. I just can't get enough of it -
it's my favorite.
'Savoir faire', 'Head music
and a slower 'Crack in the union jack' proved to be nice
pop songs too. Most of the songs are in fact - but they're only nice pop songs. Not
pop songs that leave an impression that stands the test of time.
The problem is this album has to compete with all the bands previous albums, all masterpieces.
This creates high expectations and well, I guess I expected too much.
