June 15th/16th/17th, 2001
Organization :
Mond'Expo
Location :
Espace Auteuil, Paris (16e)
My first exposition abroad.
Had to get up early for the 200 miles drive south and arrived in Paris, France around midday.
Had to pay 60 FFr ($8.00 more or less) to get in.
Lots of trade stands, including some very interesting ones (Expo-kit - wanted to buy
their new 1/72 scale resin Isherman M51 - but sadly sold out).
Then I got really disappointed seeing the competition area.
All models were displayed in a glass house in the center of the exhibition.
I found out it was nearly impossible to take pictures because of the light reflecting
in the glass and to a lesser extent the dirt on the glass.
I managed to take almost 200 pictures with the aid of an additional 32 Mb compact flashcard
I had bought for this occasion.
But as expected most pictures look awful, only a small number is more or less acceptable.
The contest itself contained a really high number of figure models, outnumbering all other
categories combined.
My attention mostly went to aircraft and military vehicles.
