Antwerp, Belgium
Weather forecasting predicted a rainy and cloudy weekend but the gods decided
otherwise (I guess they love US cars too) and rain was delayed until late Sunday
afternoon. Even more, it became a warm and sunny weekend.
Hurrah !
Because just like girls, American cars look great in the sun too.
It turned out to be a top weekend as 2,047 US vehicles of all kinds showed up.
This was a 30% increase compared with previous year when 1,565 vehicles
attended the show. Our club president (Jan Cuypers) was happy to round
that big 2,000 number in the year 2000.
Free entrance for all US vehicles is one of the key elements of this success,
together with an excellent location being the old docks in Antwerp, close to
the center of the city.
I visited the show on both days in the afternoon and I took pictures with
my conventional camera and my digital camera - and I wish I had pictures of all
the cars present, but there were just too many of them.
It surprised me again to see so many beautiful classic cars. It puzzles me
why you never see any of them in daily life, considering the number attending
this show. I guess there must be a lot of cars kept in garages, cars that only
get out once a year to visit this show.
